    Position Summary:

    The Hospice Coordinator provides overall management of clinical, regulatory, administrative and financial direction of the organization and assumes final responsibility for all activities and staff. Ensures provision of services that reflects ruralMED’s philosophy and standards.


    Job Duties:

    • Incumbent must have the skills, ability and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:

    • Ensures that the hospice department and its staff maintain a high level of ethical and professional standards and are providing superior customer service and care.

    • Works to continuously improve healthcare services and looks for ways to streamline and enhance operations.

    • Initiates the development and implementation of policies and procedures that govern the organization.

    • Creates and maintains the hospice schedule.

    • Works with Homecare Director and human resources to select, employ, train, manage and discharge staff and develop and maintain staff policies and practices for the agency.

    • Provides direction in planning, decision making and policy formulation at management meetings.

    • Directs continuing education and in-service programs.

    • Organization of workload so that all functions are completed appropriately and ensures that hospice staff is completing accurate and timely charting.

    • Works with Homecare Director to effectively and consistently communicate administrative directives to staff and encourages interactive meetings and discussions.

    • Works with Homecare Director to plan, develop, implement and control the annual budget for the hospice department.

    • Ensures that the agency maintains accreditation, licensing and quality patient care through the establishment of performance improvement monitory programs and standards.

    • Reviews operating results of the organization, compares them to established objectives and takes steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.

    • Ensures team treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.

    • Evaluates the job performances of hospice personnel.

    • Demonstrates competency annually in assigned areas of work.
