    Job Summary:

    Machinist with knowledge of mills, lathes, CNC programming, and various functions of fabrication. Must be a self-starter able to work with little supervision.


    Job Description:

    Fabricate quality component parts at the lowest possible cost for the parts cribs and projects by using the different types of equipment and process in the machine shop.


    The person in this position is expected to work with little supervision.  Inclusive with this requirement, the individual must be able to access the necessary resources to insure the task is completed correctly and in a timely manner.  Because this individual must act in a somewhat self-directed manner, a thorough understanding of all areas of responsibility is essential.


    The person in this position will also plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).



    • Minimum Education Requirement:  Associates Degree in related field. Plastic Mold making or Tool And Die preferred.

    • Minimum Physical Requirement:  Must be able to lift 25 lbs. and push or pull 75 lbs.

    • Experience helpful, but not required.

    • Expectations:

      • Ability to use precision tools to take accurate measurements.

      • Ability to read blueprints.

      • Good at math with analytical abilities.

      • Must maintain good quality of all precision tools and equipment.

      • Ability to use precision measuring devices to meet highly accurate specifications.

      • Must be able to program in CAM software to create code for CNC equipment.

      • Must demonstrate a proficiency in the total setup and operation of at least one fully automated CNC multi-axis machine.  Design and build fixtures to support multi-part machining operations.  

      • Must have basic knowledge of mill, lathe, grinding and EDM operations.

      • Perform miscellaneous cleanup of the area.


      Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

      Level of math skill required:

      • Competency in all basic math.

      • Working knowledge of higher math (including trigonometry, algebra and geometry)

      • Knowledge of decimal system


      Must be able to interpret readings from indicators, micrometers and assorted gauges.

      • Must be able to read blue prints and understand geometric tolerances and fabricate components to print specifications/dimensions.

      • Possess basic skills on lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill press and have ability to do sheet metal work and welding.

      • Must possess the basic skills in precision measurement.

      • Knowledge of inventory control practices.

      • Quoting project and jobs.



      • Knowledge and experience with CAD system.

      • Knowledge and experience with plastics and/or injection molds.

      • Knowledge and experience with assembly equipment.

      • Knowledge of CNC machine tools.

      • Knowledge of CAM software.

      • Project management.

      • Plastic Mold making or Tool And Die.


      • Must obey all safety programs, policies & regulations;

      • Must follow all GMP rules;

      • Must cooperate fully with the safety and environmental programs;

      • Must be able to work in a team environment and fully cooperate with coworkers and management;

      • May not pose a direct threat or significant risk to themselves or others;

      • Must follow attendance policy.
