Don Sjogren Community YMCA Welcomes Rebecca Anderson as Associate Director

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HOLDREGE, Neb. — March 5, 2026

The Don Sjogren Community YMCA is pleased to announce the hiring of Rebecca Anderson as its new Associate Director, effective Monday, February 9. The Don Sjogren Community YMCA has served the Holdrege community for over 20 years, focusing on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. In her new role, Anderson will support branch operations, membership engagement, and community partnerships while helping lead events and programming throughout the year.

Anderson is a 2026 graduate of the LeadWell Mindset Leadership Program, which equips community leaders with training in workplace culture, leadership development, and team-building tools. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Holdrege Area Chamber of Commerce, where she has held roles including Treasurer and Committee Chair, and on the Board of Directors for the Iron Horse Arts District, where she has served as President and Committee Chair.

Through these roles, Anderson has developed strong experience in event planning, organization, and community collaboration. She was part of the Chamber team that helped bring together the 2025 Midsummer Festival: A Swedish Days Tradition, which was recognized as the Outstanding Tourism Event at the Nebraska Tourism Awards Banquet.

Anderson also brings a background in hospitality and customer service, having served as Customer Service Supervisor at Lincoln Federal Savings Bank in Holdrege and as Front Desk Supervisor at the Crowne Plaza in Kearney, the Scarlet Hotel in Lincoln, and the Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln. Her experience in hospitality and member-facing leadership positions her well to enhance membership engagement and service across the YMCA.

“I am most excited about serving the community through the YMCA because it places a meaningful organization behind my personal efforts of making Holdrege my home and bettering it for future generations,” Anderson said. “The YMCA creates opportunities to impact a wide range of people through community events, partnerships, and volunteering.”

Anderson added that the role is a natural fit for both her professional experience and personal values. “My background in event planning, employee supervision, and community involvement aligns well with the YMCA’s mission,” she said. “Along with that, the core values of Jesus, then family, then career; The YMCA is a perfect amalgamation of my values.”

Branch Executive Director Joel Pelster expressed confidence in Anderson’s leadership and community presence. “I have gotten to know Rebecca through our time together on the Holdrege Area Chamber of Commerce Board,” Pelster said. “I’ve seen firsthand how strong she is with people and what she can accomplish behind the scenes. Her personality, talents, and heart for the community make her an excellent fit for the Don Sjogren Community YMCA.”
