Iron Horse Arts District to Feature Holdrege Arts Educators in October Pop-Up Gallery
Holdrege, Neb. – The Iron Horse Arts District will host its next Pop-Up Art Gallery Artist Reception on Thursday, October 9, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at Spirit of Grace Church (recently moved to 507 West Avenue, Holdrege). This month’s gallery will showcase the works of local artists and educators Nancy Wiese and Brandy Edgren, both of whom inspire creativity in students at Holdrege Public Schools.
Nancy Wiese has called Holdrege home since 2006 and has dedicated her career to nurturing artistic expression in young people. Currently the art teacher at Holdrege High School, Nancy also pursues her own passions through vibrant colored pencil and watercolor works inspired by botanical gardens and the natural world.
Brandy Edgren, a Holdrege native, has taught art for nearly three decades and currently serves at Holdrege Middle School. Her colorful paintings reflect her faith and love of life, capturing subjects ranging from landscapes and flowers to children and animals.
“We are thrilled to highlight Nancy and Brandy in this month’s Gallery,” said Cassie Ehrenberg, Executive Director of the Iron Horse Arts District. “Both artists are not only talented creators but also dedicated educators who have shaped generations of students. This event celebrates their dual role as teachers and artists while giving the community a chance to experience their personal work up close.”
The Pop-Up Gallery series brings art directly into the community, offering residents and visitors the chance to engage with local creativity in unique spaces. Guests will enjoy an evening of art, conversation, and light refreshments while supporting the growing arts district.
The event is open to the public; freewill donations to the District are encouraged. For those who can’t attend the Artist Reception, the show will be available at Spirit of Grace from Tuesday, October 7, through the end of October during regular hours.
Looking ahead, the Iron Horse Arts District has announced an open call for artists to participate in its November Pop-Up Art Gallery, which will feature the theme “Autumn Colors & Light.” Artists of all experience levels are encouraged to apply. Submission details can be found at ironhorsedistrict.org/events/call-for-artwork-autumn-colors-light.
