Iron Horse Arts District Invites Community to “All Aboard: Shaping What’s Next for Iron Horse” Planning Event

Holdrege, Neb. – The Iron Horse Arts District is inviting the public to climb aboard and help shape the future of the organization at a special community input event, “All Aboard: Shaping What’s Next for Iron Horse,” from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Phelps County Community Foundation in Holdrege.

As the District approaches its third year of growth, its board members and Executive Director are seeking ideas and feedback from residents, business owners, artists, and community partners to guide projects, programming, and public art initiatives for the years ahead.

“This district belongs to everyone,” said Cassie Ehrenberg, Executive Director of the Iron Horse Arts District. “We’ve seen incredible momentum with projects like the Iron Horse Arts Festival, murals on walls and crosswalks, and pop-up art galleries. Now we want to hear directly from the community again about what’s next—what excites them, what inspires them, and how the Arts District can continue to be a place that brings people together.”

The event will feature:

  • Updates on the initial five-year goals set out by the District.
  • Gallery Wall where attendees can share their opinions on previous and ongoing projects.
  • SWOT Analysis to identify and discuss potential strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
  • Dream BIG Ideas session, giving attendees the chance to share their boldest visions for the District.

The “All Aboard” event is free and open to the public, with light refreshments provided. Families, students, business leaders, and residents of all ages are encouraged to attend and be part of the conversation.

“Public art and cultural experiences only thrive when the community feels ownership,” Ehrenberg said. “This is an opportunity for everyone to have a hand in shaping something that will leave a lasting impact on Holdrege.”
