Iron Horse Arts District Seeks Spooky & Historic Stories for Haunted Holdrege Walking Tour

HOLDREGE, Neb. – Do you have a ghost story to share? Do you own or know of a building in downtown Holdrege with a mysterious past or haunting charm? The Iron Horse Arts District is inviting the public to submit local legends, eerie encounters, and tales of architectural intrigue for its first-ever Haunted Holdrege Walking Tour, taking place on Halloween night, Thursday, October 31, 2025.

As part of our continued effort to celebrate the unique history and character of our community, Haunted Holdrege will combine theatrical storytelling, local folklore, and a dash of the supernatural for a guided tour through downtown’s most curious corners. We’re looking for:

  • Ghost stories connected to downtown buildings or public spaces
  • Historical oddities or legends rooted in Holdrege’s past
  • Interesting architecture or spaces with a unique atmosphere

“This is a fun and creative way to bring the history of our community to life—and maybe even send a few shivers down your spine,” said Cassie Ehrenberg, Executive Director of the Iron Horse Arts District. “We hope to make this a fun, annual event.”

Stories and buildings submitted may be featured on or leading up to the event. Contributors will be credited where possible.

Deadline for submissions: June 27, 2025

Submit stories or leads through our online form on our website at https://ironhorsedistrict.org/projects/haunted-holdrege

Help us uncover the secrets hiding in plain sight. Whether it’s haunted or just historic, we want to hear your tale.
