Phelps County Featured on Growing Small Town Nebraska Podcast

HOLDREGE — Phelps County will be featured in four upcoming episodes of the Growing Small Town Nebraska podcast.

“We are excited to share the amazing places and events in Phelps County with the listeners of the Growing Small Town Nebraska podcast,” PCVC Coordinator Kristine Jacobson said. “This is our first official influencer visit, and we believe this will introduce our county to a new audience and set the stage for future influencer partnerships. These episodes will showcase how our county’s residents are working to grow and improve Phelps County in hopes of attracting more visitors and potentially new residents.”

PCVC hosted Growing Small Town Nebraska podcast host Sheila Jenkinson July 30-Aug. 1. While here, Jenkinson recorded four episodes that will be aired on the following dates:

  • August 12 - Iron Horse Arts District featuring Cassie Ehrenberg and Luke Mills
  • August 15 - Bertrand Community Fund featuring Bev Hansen and Gracie Hock
  • September 23 - Nebraska Prairie Museum with Micah Huyser
  • November 25 – Holdrege Area Chamber of Commerce Winterfest and other activities/events with Adam Hernandez and Rebecca Anderson

While in Phelps County, Jenkinson stayed at The Corliss, a new Airbnb in downtown Holdrege, and the Rodeway Inn. Some of the places she visited included the Nebraska Prairie Museum, The Speakeasy, the Iron Horse Arts District including the Midtown Sculpture Garden, Coal & Feed Coffee & Vittle, Lost Way Brewery, The Drive, Catrinas, The Bridal Isle, The Cozy Inn Café, The Tassel Performing Arts Center, the Don Sjogren Community YMCA, Holdrege Public Library, Holdrege Farmer’s Market, Funk School Community Center, Holdrege North Park, Veterans Memorial, Jeremy Hansen Art Gallery, Pretty & Fabulous, Cross Country Market, 607 Studio, and Blue Moose restaurant.

Sheila Jenkinson lives in Stanton, Neb., and has more than 20+ years of experience in radio. She started the Growing Small Town Nebraska podcast three years ago in which she features community leaders and business owners discussing efforts to revitalize small towns in Nebraska and the fun and unique places to visit around the state.
