Sweet Blooms Village is a local flower farm rooted in care, creativity, and community. Founded by Abbi Thorell, the business focuses on growing and selling fresh-cut flowers for subscriptions, custom orders, and events. What began as a small idea has grown into a meaningful way to bring locally grown beauty to Phelps County.

The Story Behind the Business

Sweet Blooms Village began during a season of life centered on family. After the early arrival of her first daughter, Abbi found herself spending long days in the NICU and later adjusting to life as a stay-at-home mom. During that time, she missed working with her hands and being in the garden. With encouragement from her husband and inspiration from her grandparents’ backgrounds in floristry and agriculture, the idea for a flower business began to take shape.

Planning started in 2022, followed by a year of learning, experimenting, and growing flowers at home. By 2024, Abbi made her first sale, arranging flowers for a small event. Encouraged by community interest, she began selling at local farmers markets in 2025 to test demand. As requests for arrangements, events, and special orders increased, it became clear there was room for a local flower farm. Sweet Blooms Village officially took root soon after.

Today, the farm operates on a small piece of family land in Phelps County, transforming underutilized ground into a space for growing flowers and building something lasting.

People and Culture

At its heart, Sweet Blooms Village is shaped by relationships. The business reflects both family influence and strong community support. Abbi’s background, along with her grandparents’ experience in floristry and farming, plays a role in how the farm is designed and operated. From traditional growing methods to creative landscaping ideas, each part of the space carries a personal touch.

The Phelps County community has also been a key part of the journey. From donating vases to supporting early sales, local residents have helped the business grow in practical and meaningful ways. Those shared contributions continue to show up in the final product. Many arrangements are designed using donated vases, adding a layer of connection between neighbors and customers.

Abbi approaches each arrangement as a form of art, aiming to listen carefully to what customers want while creating something thoughtful and unique. Whether it is a custom order or a subscription bouquet, the goal is to deliver something that feels personal and brings a sense of joy.
