A Sweet Start to 2026: First Baby of the Year Arrives

Phelps Memorial Health Center began the new year with a very special arrival. Amara Rose Joann, the first baby born at PMHC in 2026, arrived on January 9 at 6:50 p.m. She weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and measured 19 inches long.

Born to Cindi Johnson and Jeremyah Hendricks, Amara’s arrival came as a complete surprise to the family when they learned she was the first baby of the new year. Both mom and baby are doing well and were cared for by Dr. Katie Thelen, D.O., along with the compassionate obstetrics team at Phelps Memorial Health Center.

In celebration of this milestone, Amara was welcomed with special gifts made possible through a partnership with the Holdrege Area Chamber of Commerce, the Phelps Memorial Health Center Service League, Phelps Memorial Health Center, and local businesses. Among the gifts was a handmade quilt personalized with the message “First Little Miracle of the New Year,” created to mark this meaningful moment.

Phelps Memorial Health Center is honored to welcome Amara Rose Joann as the first baby of 2026 and wishes her and her family a happy and healthy year ahead.
